Of Cats and Snakes

Well ever since Sophia used her powers of persuasion and pouty face to convince Paola that we needed a kitten, things have been a little more exciting around the house.  The last couple of days we have had not only the kitten but another little visitor.  When ever the cat does anything that warrants a severe beating, she will make a cute little kitten face.  I am starting to think that Sophia has been training her to do that to avoid exile.

Cleo the Kitten

Well, the other day I was working in my office and I saw something out of the corner of my eye moving behind the bookshelf.  Lo and behold a little visitor.

Visitor Snake

We have been living here forever, and this is the first time we have had one of these little guys paying us a visit.  Well, although it was mostly uneventful, and we were able to take him to the woods and let him loose:  Paola was not to happy about having this uninvited visitor.

Mountain or Rock

This morning I got a chance to go climb stone mountain with the kids.  It was a nice cool day and the climb was not too taxing.  We had a great time climbing and talking about life.  The yellow flowers  were blooming everywhere (weeds).  They really did look nice.  The gang is all in pretty good shape so it was pretty easy.  Now we have to clean up and get some of our favorite Taco Bell and play some D&D.  Yeah, that's right:  D&D!

Megan Day

I got a chance to have lunch with Megan and her crazy friends today.  She is growing up so fast, and I am sure at some point she wont want her old dad embarrassing her in front of her friends.  Well today was not that day.  We had some good laughs and I got to see some of Megan's personality when she is being silly with her friends.  A good bunch.

The Taco Cat

Me and Taco Cat got a chance to visit Sophia for lunch today. A very rare and auspicious occasion. I am working from home for a few days so that gives me some flexibility.  Well, as part of the entertainment, Sophia tried to drink her shake with a straw through her nose. Where ever does she get these crazy ideas?  I am sure I did not encourage such crazy behavior.

The View at the Lake

A couple of weekends ago we got a chance to help out at Lakeview for an evangelistic event.  It was a great event.  The whole family was able to go out and work with a bunch of the regular Lakeview volunteers.  Pastor Luis was preaching that day that lead to a few decisions.  The church had worked together to also set up some games and messages for the kids.  As part of this event, a few of the kids from Rockdale Baptist brought some great songs.

Lakeview Songs

The kids got a chance to play some games and sing some songs.  The songs and games all had a great message that pointed to Christ and Salvation!

Overall a great activity for everyone:  Visitors and Volunteers alike.

And in the end, sharing the love of Christ is what we are called to do.  So if even one person is touched by what we share, then it is all worth it for God's glory.

A Close Shave

I was backing up some of the photos that Paola had on her phone before she finds a good way to blow it up.... please don't tell her I said that.  smiley  Well Anyways, I came across this picture of Matthew shaving.  It was August of 2014 and this was the first time that Matthew did a full shave.  How quickly they grow up.  He was only 12 years old but his mustache was already kicking him in the nose.  Better get that under control before it gets out of control.

The Family Cruise

In February we got a bunch of the family together to go on a Cruise.

Duck Cruise

Well we got a bunch of pictures scanned that we bought and we added them to a gallery HERE.  Follow the link to see some of those.  We will add a bunch of the camera pictures when we get a chance (but don't hold your breath too long).

Of Rain and Naps

One of the new things that has happened to our household is the loss of our cat Sarah.  She has been my pet since 1992.  That is a very very long time indeed.  Well with the passing of time, we had the clamoring for another fluffy companion.

Nap Time - Sophia and Cleo

And on a completely different note, a quick storm passing by near the night a few days lead to the opportunity to do some bouncing with the rain for Megan.

Oh to be young and carefree (and fluffy).   There is a joy in that.

Birthday Pizza

How long has it been?  I have not been posting for over a year.  "Why would you abandon us this way, Briam?"  Well I went back to finish my degree at Georgia Tech.  And then the truth is that I got really lazy.  wink

Well now I am back.  And so much time has passed that I think I should really start now and then every now and then do some back tracking until I catch up (which is pretty much never).  Either way, Onward!

On Friday Night, I turned 43 ... or 430, I don't recall.  But we went to celebrate with some Chicago Style pizza.   Umm umm.  One of my favorites.

Nancy's Chicago Style Pizza

After some awesome pizza, we then moved next door to watch the magical world of Krispy Kreme creations.  Below is the machine that makes the magic.

Krispy Kreme Machine

Oh look closely at the sugary sweetness that pours down.  It must be healthy for you!!

And to top it off a little chuckle at the warning on the side of the machine.  Be careful with the hands.

And with that.  The first post is in.  yes
